I don’t think I’d read it again if I realized more of what unarranfed was like Ynarranged book is really fun to read and is rally easy to get in to. You really learn about different cultures and how the world can be for some people. I’d been wanting to marriae a book by Bali Rai for such a long time but never got around to it. I did not however like all the repetitive facts and non-important details. Though, I don’t agree with his fathers drunkenness and his mom’s blackmailing like talk, he still could have gotten his way differently.
He cannot believe how nice his parents start to behave. Even the ending was a totally disaster on such a good story. But Manny is described bwli a brave young boy who stand their ground and do as he wants. You really can relate to the plot and it yields a better understanding of kids with a different religion and culture.
When I had read the book it changed my opinion for them who is really into their religion, the book showed that the religion and traditions is actually really important for some people and you need to respect that. Made me re think about the whole culture from a different angle. Like Manny, Rai also worked in a supermarket.
The story is about inner fight and struggling within your own family and when the boy think he is stuck with family rules, blacmailing and theres no way out-not to be unwillingly married by arranged marriage to grl who he has never ever met.
I’m not getting married. Manny’s parents take him to India under the pretext of visiting family, but he hali finds that they have returned to England without him.
A lot of kids born in a western country with foreign parents experience these kinds of problems. To his family he has no contact anymore. I like how the time in the book were built and how Bali brought it togheter at the end.

This is the type of book I enjoy and I wasn’t disappointed. I do not usually like being forced to read books that someone else chooses, but this book gave me only positive impressions. He is of Indian origin but lives with his family unarrnged England. His has the ability to tackle the harsh realities of growing up in the UK and blend this with humour and often a overriding optimism.

But Manjit seems to be convinced that he has to respect his parents’ decision. Manny uses the time that he has on his own to think about what happened in the last years and about his plan to crash his own wedding.
It is two years ago since the day he crashed his wedding and escaped from his family and he does not regret baali. Although Manjit does not tell him the reason for his behaviour, Mr Sandhu presumes conflicts in his family due to his relationship with Lisa. What the author can be criticized for is the language he uses.
